    The satobs.org website has some documentation outlining how to make visual
    observations:
    http://www.satobs.org/position/posn_measure.html
    
    The typical requirements are a stopwatch and binoculars. You can mark
    positions on a star chart or use Ted Molczan's ObsReduce (
    http://www.satobs.org/programs/ObsReduce/ObsReduce.html).
    
    There are some talented visual observers on SeeSat that are more suited to
    explain the details of measuring positions visually.
