Imaging the ISS (~100 meters long) and the Space Shuttle (telescopically the size of an average planet Mars) when it was flying was relatively easy if you could master the tracking problem. These targets are easy to resolve in a moderate amateur telescope. The Iridium satellites at ~3 meters long (if I remember correctly) are another animal. Under the best circumstances I dont think you will be able to resolve useful telescopic detail. I think there may be only two or three imagers who could pull this off and they are the ones who resolved the NASA "meatball" logo on the Shuttle at ISS altitude. But even these guys will need a major dose of good luck.
