I observed a bright transit last night by coincidence.
My location: lat 29.55 deg, long -95.36 deg
    Time: approximately 03:06 UTC today
Object location: elevation approx. 40 deg, azimuth 90, traveling South to North
Magnitude: between Venus and Jupiter (sorry, I haven't trained myself to better know magnitudes) at its maximum; brightness decay was slow, so it was not an Iridium and it was not tumbling.

Using CalSky and a limiting magnitude of 7, I found three potential matches: Resurs 1-4 (25394, 1998-043A ) which is the best apparent match, NOAA 14 (23455, 1994-089A), and Cosmos 877 (09594, 1976-118G). CalSky shows predicted magnitudes between 5.1 and 5.8, but my experience was much brighter. I was wondering if anyone has experience with any of these three objects getting so bright.

    Thanks,
    Tom
