I agree with Björn to specify the Bayer letter (or Flamsteed number). Because I want to learn most starnames I like if they are specified as well. There are some differences in starname assignments if you look at different sources. For example: epsilon Cygni is named Gienah according to ref. 1. This name is used for gam Corvi according to ref. 2. ref. 1: Sky Catalog 2000.0 Volume 1 (Cambridge University Press 1982) ref. 2: The Photographic Atlas of the Stars (Institute of Physics publishing) I love this latter book as the sky is presented in photographs with about the same limiting magnitude as I experience while using my 7x50 binoculars. I use this atlas to improve my knowledge of the constellations. Opposite to every photograph is a map of the same part of the sky with the brighter stars provided with their Bayer letter or Flamsteed number.
