    Hello All,

I'm an Airline pilot, and I received a question from another pilot friend recently. He relayed a description of an object seen in the daytime and thought it might have been a satellite. I explained that it could not have been a LEO sat, or even a geosync sat. My explanition was a UAV (unmanned areial vehicle), something along the lines of the Global Hawk or Dark Star.

Anyone out there want to take a stab at this one, maybe I'm wrong.

This is a copy of his e-mail description:

<<<<<<<Hey John, what's new?? Got a question for you. A buddy of mine flys for ATA. He was on his way to HNL from LAX midday. They were watching a UAL flight 2000 ft above them. When it was overhead, he noticed something else. Above the UAL flight was a shiny object in the sky. He said it appeared to be very high in the sky(90,000 or more). He told UAL and they thought he was kidding until they also saw it. Saw it for 45 minutes or so. ATC new nothing about it. He said it was basically in the same position although did move from side to side from his relative position. Said it was shiny like what an American "paint job" looks like. Too far up to make out a shape other than round. Anyway, do you think the object may have been the space station or anything like that?? Is it possible to see it in the daytime?? Sorry, there were no further details about position and time. I ruled out Iridium Flares because of the duration of the obs. (45 mins.)
