Rob's link from MS http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q273/7/80.asp says Ansi.sys Device Driver Cannot be Loaded in Windows Me And sadly that's it. WinME doesn't support real mode, ansi.sys requires real mode, & Skymap menus require ansi.sys, so there you are. Several people have kindly sent me tips, but no tip got ansi.sys to work. Future purchases / upgrades: to buy a laptop or desktop for home or work, I specify Win2000, which still supports ansi.sys. (Or Win98 SE at a pinch.) I don't know anyone who likes WinME; they all find it too flaky.
