Duncan Campbell, a reporter who writes for the Guardian in the UK, has asked me to relay his interest in the rumor that JUMPSEAT/TRUMPET ELINT satellites in Molniya orbits are, in fact, flying in the vicinity of Molniya comsats in order to intercept the uplink to them. I doubt that this is more than an urban legend, but people who telescopically observe Molniya-orbit objects might consider looking into the question.
