I'm off to Space Camp this week! I'm sure it will be fun, but I'm not as enthusiastic about it as most kids would be... They make the brochure look so cool but I'm guessing all the "Astronaut Training" is pretty fakey stuff. Anyway, I was thinking it would be cool to show all the other kids there (and maybe some of the instructors) how many satellites you can see from the ground. The Space Camp I'm going to is in Huntsville, AL, lat 34.7145 long -86.6292. I looked for some interesting passes with a significant WOW! factor, and I found that on the 10th (Monday) There will be a -7.4 mag Iridium flare. For me it will a be a "whoop-de doo there goes another one" kind of thing but I'm sure I'll get a good response from them! Maybe I'll tell them I can predict when the extraterrestrial ships orbiting the earth will zap space camp with their ray guns. Then when the flare shows up I'll be worshiped by everyone :). I'll probably also show them a few Lacrosse passes, they might get a kick out of the fact that they are "classified" sats. Did anyone else here go to space camp? Anyway, I'll be back next Friday and I'll be sure to give a report on what happens! Patrick __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Talk to your friends online with Yahoo!
