Satellites on TV

On Saturday (yesterday), on CNN's Science and Technology Week, they said:

1. The Russian satellite has been located that was thought to have crashed.
It was found in some far east country, in a town. Toxic wastes were released
upon fragmenting, hitting the ground. No injuries reported. I think they
said that the cause was a computer failure. The satellite went dead, and
something happened to the rocket.

On June 18th, they talked about Starshine and satellite observing in general.

2. The Space Shuttle is to go up on July 20th to release an X-ray telescope.
 Can anyone confirm this?
