Finally observed the latest Delta II Iridiums. Based on
a report yesterday, I was expecting one to be much brighter.

All five were around 7-7.5 madnitude. I would offer that
#24870 and #24873 were the brightest and #24869 the faintest.
Note that my magnitude estimates are not always the most

This was a 40-43 degree elevation pass in the ENE at 0412 am
local (10:12 UT 7/23/97).

Used 7x50 binocs. Clear sky, good transparency and gibbous
moon in the south. Although all five were seen, there were
faint for the conditions and optical aid.
