I call B.S. on the Chinese! Do they really think we're that stupid (fearless leader notwithstanding!)? This is just a way of trying to mitigate criticism about developing space based weaponry. What supposedly "works" on junk would work on an operational bird as well. And which would you rather have to dodge? One big piece of easily trackable junk or the likely thousands of pieces of still hazardous detritus that would be created and possibly pushed into an even higher orbit by their laser?
