    There is a very interesting article on seasonal variations in light
    curves as observed by the MODEST telescope in the latest issue of
    Orbital Debris Quarterly.  Quote:
    
    "From the data discussed here, it is apparent that shapes and
    functionality ( e.g., orientation) significantly affect light curves.
    Data for cylinders were limited, but show a similar trend in
    brightness to boxes (but at somewhat different and multiple solar
    declinations)."
