At 0642 UTC I observed a very faint contrail at around 20 degrees elevation in the Northnorthwest in an otherwise clear sky with the sun setting. (the first clear day since Christmas!) The trail was only visible for a few degrees and faded very rapidly. It was oriented south to north which corresponds with the ground track of this object which would have been at 163 km elevation at that time. Not reported then because of the high degree of uncertainty but just for the record!- also for your opinion on the likelihood of such a contrail that early in the decay process.
