All, Is the laser perhaps the explination for my wild ride trying to view IceSat (27642)? For several passes this fall I missed it but blamed phase angle or user error. Finally on Dec 21 I saw it ascending through Pegasus and naked eye (4th mag), and it was very close to overhead pass (83 deg in W). The very next visible pass was missed, although the phase angle was not much less. I did not see a "green light" but perhaps this explains why I finally saw it after so much effort.
