The newly-launched Cosmos 2416 rocket has been observed flashing by Leo and Bram. Ed and I observed it last night. Unlike the period of 2.6 seconds obtained by Leo and Bram a few days ago with indications of secondary flashes, I oberved a very regular flashing with a period of 2.0 seconds: yy-nnncc yy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss.s ooo sss.s s.s nnn ff.fff comments 05- 48 C 06-01-06 02:55:08 MM 72.0 0.2 36 2.00 5->8 The Spacecom tles show a changing mean motion for the first several days after launch. So I assume that residual fuel/oxidizer gases were being vented. The tles show a nearly-constant mean motion for the last day, so perhaps this has ended.
