President-Elect George W. Bush's pick for Defense Secretary, Donald Rumsfeld, wants (with the President-Elect's support) to deploy laser defense stations in space in the near future, to prepare for attacks against U.S. and allied satellites, and against enemy nuclear weapon launches. Should prove interesting to observers for the next several years. The incoming administration plans to militarize space - to a degree (I personally believed that it was only a matter of time before space would be militarilized.). ------------------------------ Jonathan T.
