    Hi List,

Over in de.sci.raumfahrt, a question about an odd unID obs has been posted.
Someone has suggested as a possible explanation that it might have been the
beginning of a reentry. Could that have been the case? If yes, what would
    be the possible candidate object?

Data, as posted, translated by me:

    Location: Munich, Germany
    Date: January 1st, 2001
Time: about 0:30am local [Munich is GMT+1]
Object: easily visible to the unaided eye; orange glow; a bit larger than a
planet; far away, so probably not a plane; fast, smooth motion away from
the near zenith area of the sky towards NW; obs duration about 20 seconds.

The original poster had added a plea not to make fun of the interesting
time-of-day/date combination and his possible state of mind, and that his
whole family saw it and they were all stone sober. :)

    CU!	Markus
