Hi Herewith some of the observations made on evening of 05 Jan 2001- I still have about 9 classified satellites to process - its a long painful boring task ! Data is in usual IOD format : 25744 99 028A 0433 F 20010105184940340 27 25 1143030-793592 56 V+064 03 25744 99 028A 0433 F 20010105185137270 27 25 0945390-720737 56 V+065 03 25744 99 028A 0433 F 20010105185336080 27 25 0903950-620889 56 V+071 03 23233 94 057A 0433 F 20010105185535270 27 25 0636680-495159 56 +081 03 23851 96 024A 0433 F 20010105190533000 27 25 1016020-595398 56 +052 03 23851 96 024A 0433 F 20010105190619350 27 25 0915630-580197 56 +045 03 23851 96 024A 0433 F 20010105190729800 27 25 0739230-490310 56 +040 03 05679 71 110B 0433 F 20010105185648560 27 25 1416410-812010 56 S+075 03 05679 71 110B 0433 F 20010105185726550 27 25 1058480-822845 56 S+069 03 05679 71 110B 0433 F 20010105185742560 27 25 0936710-805828 56 S+071 03 05679 71 110B 0433 F 20010105185807580 27 25 0817850-764536 56 S+070 03 05679 71 110B 0433 F 20010105185829760 27 25 0740510-714685 56 S+070 03 25157 98 007A 0433 F 20010105191714240 27 25 0444000-471172 56 +065 03 25157 98 007A 0433 F 20010105192938700 27 25 0239700+122653 56 +068 03 23937 96 029F 0433 F 20010105195802380 27 25 0611630-063739 56 +065 03 23937 96 029F 0433 F 20010105195723390 27 25 0554480-194199 56 +078 03 25991 99 067A 0433 F 20010105200157360 27 25 0829750-322124 56 S+056 03 25725 99 023B 0433 F 20010105201300000 27 25 0325570-070906 56 R+060 03 001264 25725 99 023B 0433 F 20010105201013690 27 25 0300250-095185 56 R+060 03 001267 I have just obtained another lens for my CoSaTrak system ( 85mm focus at f/2.0) and this now gives me a field of view of about 2.9 degrees and can detect stars down to mag +8.6 with a first quarter moon nearby. This lens appears ideal for positional work. I saw TIPS with this system for the first time - previously it was too faint and it is a real ghostly eerie sight. Incidentally which part of TIPS is used for the actual position - I have taken what I think is the "head" as it frequently gives off "glints" as it travels across the field of view and also appears slightly brighter than the thether itself - if required I can give the time/position for both the head and tail if anyone interested. In a similar vein what observations are required of the NOSS objects - the NOSS series NOSS 2-1 and NOSS 8 each had three objects - I can easily give three positions ( or more) for EACH object during a transit but is it really necessary ?. The beauty of having the track stored on video tape means that one can obtain as many positions as required provided suitable reference stars for timing positions are in the field of view.
