I recently observed the STS-88 wire carrier (1998-069D/25564) with my 150mm
binoculars. It varied somewhat irregularly between magnitude 7 and 9. The
RCS is listed as 0.07 sq. meters but the physical size, as related to me by
one of the STS-88 flight crew, was actually .3 x .5m in size. It was a bare
aluminum plate with some hardware mounted to it. Actual RCS then should be
about about 0.15 sq. m.
