Rummaging through my notes: on 27 Dec 1997 whilst out hunting
Lacrossen(?) I noticed a approx mag 0 flare from an object close to
Polaris (around 4h, 88deg) at about 18:03:25 UTC. The object travelled
from there towards my southern horizon (ie was heading toward my zenith
at the time) and very quickly died back to below naked eye visibility.
Only one iridium flare was predicted for that night and I'd already seen
that (Ir 23). The closest match that skymap with MikeM's alldat tle file
could give was #2401/66-076A, Transit 14.
