Is there a interest in meeting online via IRC?

Greetings to the list and best of the New Year. Only 2 Years to the
millennium, I wonder how many satellites will have their software crash
because of the Y2K bug?

I was just wondering if there is any interest in meeting online, in
real-time to compare notes and exchange tips etc.

I am remote staff for TalkCity, a online service that can provide IRC
(Internet Relay Chat) services for Seesat'ers at no cost..

TalkCity differs from the normal IRC networks in the following ways:

!) standalone server system, not linked to servers world-wide so
'net-splits' are non existent.
2) Access via either a normal IRC client or a Java enabled browser.
3) Links to the TalkCIty room ( we call them rooms rather than channels)
can be put on your personal web page.
4) Twits/Troublemakers easily controlled.

If there is enough interest, I can create a room on this channel for
Seesat'ers to chat.

Rather than post to the list, please send me your thoughts on this (pro
or con) via e-mail and we will see where it goes.

Aloha
  Dale
