I was privately contacted about a reentry imaged from Puerto Rico on 7 February 2022 at 2:41 AST = 6:41 UT (Feb 7). It concerned TWO fragmenting objects that appeared about 1 minute after each other, the second fragmenting spectacularly. Video footage of both objects by the Sociedad de Astronomia del Caribe (SAC) is here: https://youtu.be/a7KUSN89-A0 This clearly is a reentry. If anyone has ideas about the identity, that is much appreciated. There is no clear match on time and position in the CSpOC TIP messages. I however suspect it is object #51459 2022-010D, a Starlink satellite that was launched only a few days earlier (Feb 3) and apparently immediately failed. The CSpOC TIP for this object has it reenter 10 hours later however. Still, the pass time is a reasonable match, as is the observed direction of movement. - Marco ----- Dr Marco Langbroek - SatTrackCam Leiden, the Netherlands. e-mail: sattrackcam_at_langbroek.org launchtower: http://launchtower.langbroek.org Station (b)log: http://sattrackcam.blogspot.com Twitter: _at_Marco_Langbroek ----- _______________________________________________ Seesat-l mailing list http://mailman.satobs.org/mailman/listinfo/seesat-lReceived on Tue Feb 08 2022 - 07:41:02 UTC
