    Observations 13 Feb 2011:
    ---------------------------------

SAC 9 NTSC (MINTRON) low light level CCD surveillance camera
(0.005 lux typical in non integration mode) and 0.00005 lux in
STARLIGHT mode with 128 frame integration.

Used with 50mm focal length,f/1.8 lens integrating for 128 frames
but set on ALC so max exposure possible is 2 seconds. Field of view
6.81 x 5.09 degrees, faintest star seen in bright moonlight was about
    mag 10.

    NOTES:
    ---------
    (1) Purpose was to use a SAC 9 NTSC USB video camera that had been lying
idle in my "junk box" for about 4 years which I hope to utilize for
searching for satellites and recording data to harddrive whilst I am
otherwise engaged,( eg asleep in front of the TV) so tried about 28
different CODECS in order to select which one gave best results in
terms of captured video quality, size of file and CPU load. Several
suitable CODECS found which will need further examination as well
as the technique to be used etc.

    (2) A fair amount of time was lost when the codec selected at the time
failed to save a file so some satellites, although seen on the PC
monitor were not captured - these codecs will not be tried again.

    (3) Used computer clock to time stamp the video frames - time should be
good to ~0.2 seconds as the the particular PC time is pretty stable
and checked occassionally against GPS signal.(PC is NOT connected
to the Internet so have to get directly from the GPS satellites.)

    Cheers
    Greg
