Tonight the clouds cleared late and I used binoculars for quick sighting of Apple flashing approx 4 degrees from alpha orion at 2:27:00 UTC. The prior 2 nights observations of Apple were done with a telescope. I was wondering if it would be possible to observe Apple occult a star in between flashes using a telescope? Would the time duration be long enough to perceive the star blink out? How about seeing something bigger (but closer) like the ISS while in shadow occult a star?
