For Telstar 401 I missed the beginning of the flash session. The initial flashes were about .5 sec of a gradual build up, then about 0.25 sec of +3.0 mag light. Very impressive. Towards the end of the session, the flashes were quite short. I missed one flash, no doubt, because it was difficult to pick up a short flash in a rich star field.
