Hi all, I'm looking for a bit of help to identify an object caught on video last night. My intention was to image the Hotbirds at 13 east , but I was having some difficulty locating them. I did however lock onto the 16 east position and took a short AVI of what I thought were two geos there. Then , from no where , clouds swept in , and my viewing was aborted. Only this morning , as I was about to delete the files , did I realise that one of the geos was not a satellite at all. You can see the AVI at : http://mysite.freeserve.com/satcom_transits/object.gif 2mb file I'm afraid , but it shows eleven frames in which the geo sat is mid picture. To the left the other object . As you can see from the file below , these were 9 second frames....the whole animation covers a period of just over two minutes.(three of the frames were dropped by the camera) 0000. 21/02/2004 21:47:35; 9.24s; AMP_ON 0001. 21/02/2004 21:47:45; 9.31s; AMP_ON 0002. 21/02/2004 21:47:55; 9.16s; AMP_ON 0003. 21/02/2004 21:48:05; 9.21s; AMP_ON 0004. 21/02/2004 21:48:15; 9.19s; AMP_ON 0005. 21/02/2004 21:48:25; 9.21s; AMP_ON 0006. 21/02/2004 21:48:35; 9.20s; AMP_ON 0007. 21/02/2004 21:48:45; 9.20s; AMP_ON 0008. 21/02/2004 21:48:55; 9.13s; AMP_ON 0009. 21/02/2004 21:49:05; 9.19s; AMP_ON 0010. 21/02/2004 21:49:15; 9.20s; AMP_ON 0011. 21/02/2004 21:49:25; 9.12s; AMP_ON 0012. 21/02/2004 21:49:35; 9.19s; AMP_ON 0013. 21/02/2004 21:49:45; 9.29s; AMP_ON 0014. 21/02/2004 21:49:55; 9.17s; AMP_ON My best estimate for the position is ra: 8:46.8 de= -7:28 There are no asteroid reports at Spaceweather.com. Notice also in the third frame , to the right , what might have been a/c nav lights. FOV approx 30 arc minutes across.
