Please refer to the following article: http://ichuddersfield.icnetwork.co.uk/0100news/0100localnews/content_objectid=13906933_method=full_siteid=50060_headline=-Strange-sighting-in-skies-puzzles-satellite-watcher-name_page.html In view of the source of the observation it seems surprising that no predictions seem to have been consulted, that the sighting does not take into account that it does not seem to fit the characteristics of an ISS pass, nor the fact that no ISS pass was visible at the time! - perhaps this is the result of the reporter's interpretation? The most likely candidate seems to be an Iridium flare- there was one from Iridium 35 at 17:41 at Huddersfield, and I do not know the exact location of the towns mentioned- as it is obviously within the time frame of likely flares in that area, and as the description seems to fit my vote is for a flare. Anyone got any better ideas or a closer ID? Once I have some confirmation and/or comments I will post any possible ID in their "have your say" form.
