I'm no photo analyst, but to me the photo looks fake. It seems like the distance to the Earth is too far. The question could be asked if STS-107's orbit would ever let Columbia be in a position such that the Earth might appear as it does in the photo. (I have no idea on that.) The top side of the shuttle is white, but this is an odd yellow color. The tiles are dark, of course, and are on the bottom of the orbiter. Also, I've read that there really would not be a way to get such a photo (of the top of the wing) from within the crew compartment. I wonder how credible Erev Hadash and Maariv are as news sources, as well as Corriere. I never heard of any of them before yesterday (no surprise).
