This evening, I was unable to see 27370 (02-004A : HESSI) but did glimpse its rocket 27371 (02-004B : HESSI Pegasus R/B) in 10x50s. At 2002 Feb 11/23:39.6 UTC it passed by alpha Lep and at maximum, it appeared about +7.7 mag (corresponding to a quicksat intrinsic magnitude of 6.6 or a SkyMap standard magnitude of 8.0). While it's coming by later each evening, it's also appearing lower (tonight just 30 degrees in the SSE) so I probably won't see it or its payload for a while. Clear and dark skies!
