Just picked this up from one of my other mailing lists. It talks about a
future satellite mission scheduled in 2001 for a near polar orbit and an
altitude of about 850 km, deploying a 30 meter solar sail.

"I have just learned that a 30 meter diameter solar sail spacecraft will be
launched into near-polar orbit (78 inclination) aboard a converted Russian
Volna ballistic missile this fall. The Planetary Society is sponsoring this
    mission: http://www.planetary.org/solarsail/index2.html"
