Excuse me *Outburst Mode* and off topic BUT... I'm afraid it speaks volumes about the anal insularity of the USA when people with enough nouce to join this group and contribute to it have NO IDEA where/what Ariane rockets are derived from. For your information Arianespace, which is European ( but which is not *owned* by ESA), is the *most* successful commercial launch system on the planet and is the PREFERRED launcher for several american satcoms companies. Ariane 5 is the ONLY system on the planet (apart from the $ 400 Million a pop Titan 4..and then only for the military) which can put 10 tonnes into GTO.
