I have asked about this via a someone who has worked with the USSPACECOM
people, and _some_ of the 1956-001 designation data relate to fictitious
objects and are generated purely for training. Whether this relates to
all of the data isn't clear.
Certainly AAA isn't the only piece designator which has been used with the
"core" 1956-001 - I have seen AAB and, I am sure, AAC.
However, I have a feeling this this is not the complete story, so maybe
Mulder and Scully could take up the cause ....... ?
