Name: Mike Waterman Observing site: Yateley = COSPAR 2115 = 51.3286N -0.7950E 75m Optical equipment: Usually 11*80 binoculars, magnitude limit 10 under good conditions, but typically 9. Also 7*50 bins. Timing equipment: Timewarp digital clock linked to Acorn BBC computer. Times are recorded directly by this clock. Computing equiment: Mostly 386 & 486. The Acorn disk drive does not work, the Acorn program is loaded from the 386, and times sent back to the 386. The Timewarp is much more accurate than the PC clocks. Catalogs: Yale catalog of bright stars & SAO catalog on computer. Also printed Sky catalogue 2000 (Hirshfeld & Sinnott) & several star atlases. Observing policy:(a) Secret satellites (b) Any other: but when I have seen it on 2 transits I usually drop it. (c) Requests to observe any satellite are considered. Total number of satellites seen about 3700. Total number of positions about 25000. All these observations are in computer form. Special knowledge: Orbits, Ariane (& ELDO) launcher. ............................................... Available on request: All my observations. These are in standard UK format. Any of my programs and routines. These are mostly in Qbasic. Items which may be of interest are SAO star catalog for epoch 2000. Routines for accessing SAO & Yale catalog. Quick routine for moon position (error 1 deg). Routines for sky limiting magnitude, depending on date time sun moon. Extensive printed information on satellites from 1957 onwards; classified by satellite type. This is mostly extracts from Flight International, Aviation Week, newspapers etc. GSFC Satellite situation reports from 1965 to 1991 (printed). Satellite Observing Notes & Space distibuted to UK & other observers, from 1962 to 1990. Printed. Many of the orbits are in computer form. Disks distributed by Dave Hopkins (1992 on) except one. (I will need Dave's permission to pass this on). Orbital elements of satellites from the UK prediction service. Printed. Some of the orbits are in computer form. Orbital elements from Moonwatch, Norad, Fylingdales, Pierre Neirinke at irregular intervals from 1968 to 1992. Printed. Some of the orbits are in computer form. List of errors found by me in SAO, Yale catalog, Atlas coeli, Atlas Borealis & Atlas eclipticalis. ......................................................... Would like: Orbit elements of selected satellites from 1961 to 1976. Any info on other errors in SAO catalog. .......................................................
