Mir made an excellent 83 degree overhead maximum elevation pass at
twilight under almost pristine sky conditions here at my location, a
rarity for these parts as of late. Picked up at 18:02:15 just before the
18:03:22 max El. (Obstacles to the NW prior to contact) Observed naked
eye 2 degrees NE of Rigel. Then an almost parallel pass 3 degrees from
the belt stars and almost 5 degrees NE of Sirius. Was able to observe
until 18:08:05 before loosing it in shadow with my 12X50s.
