All -

Someone I know, Mark Goergan, sent me this information:

After a long wait, DARPA's SHFT1 satellite launched on Dec 16th aboard an Electron launch vehicle. It is known by several names,

including 18104M, OBJECT M, and 43860. 18104M is the international designator that means it was on the 104th launch of 2018

and was the 14th item identified from that launch. 43860 is the NORAD Catalog ID. Yesterday, DARPA informed the Combined Space

Operations Center (CSpOC) at Vandenberg AFB that 43860 is named GOERGEN.

GOERGEN was deployed along with 14 other satellites and is operating nominally. Radio communication was established on its first

pass over the ground station and it is still working fine!

The usual sites have not given any beacon information, and downlink frequencies; so I sent a note asking for that. Mark says that the ground station has heard the satellite - this information will be interesting to our RF astronomers.
