    Thanks for the announcement.  I knew radar was used for some non-weather stuff like bird migration, but it never occurred to me until the announcement that weather radar could be used for meteor reentry detection.  Radar should also be able to be used for satellite reentry studies as well!   
    
    
    If meteor particles and reentered space object particles happen to be quite different in size, that opens the possibility to be more confident if it's meteor or space object reentry by looking at the radar.
    
    Timing is still everything on the meteor/space object event as it takes 4-8 minutes for a U.S. radar site scan to be completed so you need particles to be in the atmosphere long enough to be detected. 
    
    I'll be looking at my local radar more often in clearer weather now that there is a reason to look at times when precipitation is not expected.
