Observations 09 DEC 2010
------------------------------------
CoSatrak system.
CCD setup:
Meade DSI Pro II Monochrome CCD camera without filters.
using integration times of 5 sec min to 25 seconds maximum
depending on brightness of sky in particular area.No image
processing done, but some done automatically in the auto reduction
software.
Used with 4 inch SKYWATCHER refractor- model 1025 - fitted with home
made focal reducer to give an f/2.56 system. Image scale is 6.56 arc
sec/pixel and field of view 84.8 x 63.2 arc minutes. Shows 15th
magnitude stars in real time with reasonably good conditions.
Exposure time to nearest second inserted into image FITS header
from PC clock which is automatically checked every minute against
GPS signal.
Processed automatically with APEX
VIDEO setup:
145mm f/2.5 telephoto lens with MINTRON video surveillance camera
with frame GPS time stamping. Processed manually.

NOTES PART 1:
==============
(1) Looked for DSCS 3-11 but nothing at expected positions. However
the object was now very close to TURKSAT 3A and TURKSAT 2A.The
SPACETRACK elements are not good enough to be able to say what
the three objects are but I have attempted to group the three
objects. Two more or less maintained station relative to one
another and since the Turksat satellites have inclination very
close to zero degrees I have tentatively identified which is
which. The third object appears to be moving, so has a higher
inclination. For the first group of exposures it appeared on
one side of the TURKSAT group and in the second exposure group
it was on the opposite side so it would appear that sometime
between the two exposure groups, seperated by about 2 hours, it
passed through the two Turksat satellites. Im not 100% convinced
that the object identified as DSCS 3-11 is correct as its brighter
than what I am accustomed to seeing DSCS satellites, BUT I am
more often wrong than right when I dont know what Im talking about
so I could be mistaken.
(2) Had a good search for MENTOR 5 low on eastern horizon but nothing
seen so maybe its not coming my way...
