65-65C obs is very interesting ; also 97-34C! Graphs, also for 03-37C and 97-52C, sent to Leo, available on request. ----------------------------------------- Excluding the last two flashes, 2.727 is a better period for 03-37C, with a S.D. of about 0.2/50/sqrt(49) = 0.0007 ! 5.70 is no(?) period for 65-65C, 'SYNODIC' suggests 5.70 - 4.5/11 = 5.30; this gives a very good chart! With one exception, the thirteen points that are outside +-0.5 s from the main series, form three sequences of secondary flashes, all of them four minor cycles apart (true period 21.2 s)! Not also that the secondaries I identified correspond to gaps in the main series. They appear to have different synodic effects, which I have never analyzed mathematically, but seems intuitively possible, if surfaces have significantly differing angles to the rotation axis. 97-34C looks like 2.777 s, with three secondary series! The main series is extremely exact, +-0.01 s span, secondary at +0.7 s later is +-0.04 ! Even the ones at +1.5 and +2.2 s are +-0.14 s. Looking at your 05-12-16 obs, using a slightly shorter period than this, shows almost the same vertical separations. 97-52C : If your timing is +-0.5 s as claimed, the period is double, with asymmetric secondary flash - your laps are +-2 s from your period! Period 67.03 s gives spread = +-0.55 and +-0.32 s, and asymmety = +1.52 s. /Björn ----- Original Message ----- From: "Leo Barhorst" ... > 65- 65 C 05-12-19 17:16:07 LB 85.5 0.2 15 5.70 FF, 4->i > Timings: 3.01 4.53 4.67 5.89 3.28 2.48 5.17 4.18 2.37 3.89 3.25 > 2.54 4.78 4.11 2.85 3.49 3.73 1.98 5.32 3.73 2.87 3.19 4.18 sec. > Difficult to determine a period. > ... > 97- 34 C 05-12-19 16:59:53 LB 25.8 0.2 9 2.87 FF, 3->i, sm, 5 > Timings: 2.77 [1.64 1.12] [1.58 1.20] [1.38 1.40] [1.39 2.12 1.39](2) > [1.39 1.42] [1.43 1.26] [1.46 1.54] sec. > As Bjorn pointed out to me regarding my obs of Dec 16th, the period > best fitted with Synodic is 1.528 sec.
