I've created a website that will identify where in the night sky a camera was aimed just by matching 5 stars in the field of view to a database of stars. The website is up and running but it is still very crude and easily crashed. However, if anyone out in seesat-l has a picture or pictures they want id'd let me know - just email me the picture or a link to the website and I will be happy to take care of the rest. When the website is ready for prime time I'll send out another email so that you can all use it yourself to id what part of the sky a picture was taken in. Currently the database goes down to only mag 7, but that is enough for some smallish field-of-view shots as long as you pick the bright stars. - George Roberts ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe/Unsubscribe info, Frequently Asked Questions, SeeSat-L archive: http://www.satobs.org/seesat/seesatindex.html
