Yes it does for a couple of hours, although atropine is not used any more
by opthalmologists because of undesirable side effects. However, it would
not help you very much. Your retina and the nerve that connect it to the
brain have degraded in other ways due to age. You would actually see a
considerably brighter picture but at the cost of resolution. It may well
be that the pupil's diameter decreases with age in order to compensate for
the loss of resolution of the retina. As in photography, reducing the
aperture increases sharpness and depth of focus.
