Alexander, The best and simplest formula for computing the visual magnitude of a Starlink satellite is 5.93 + 5 * log10 ( d / 1000 ) where d is the distance in kilometers. This follows from the paper linked below which reports on the analysis of over 800 observed magnitudes for satellites at the operational altitude. https://arxiv.org/abs/2006.08422 Best regards, Tony Mallama _______________________________________________ Seesat-l mailing list http://mailman.satobs.org/mailman/listinfo/seesat-lReceived on Wed Aug 12 2020 - 12:55:32 UTC
