I saw the same 1049Z Aug 6 pass, with about the same geometry (SE --> ENE at 20 deg elevation) as Paul. The Shuttle was leading ISS by about 30' (a Moon diameter). ISS was at about +.5 mag, the Shuttle around +2.5 to +3. The brighter-following-dimmer pass was an interesting contrast for me as during the last HST service mission I saw the dimmer HST trailing the Shuttle like a puppy dog a couple of hours after the HST was released.
