My son and I just saw (and videotaped) Envisat followed by ARIANE 5 R/B that helped to get Envisat up there. The rocket motor was about a magnitude brighter than Envisat when overhead but faded to about a magnitude less bright when low in the north. I used the "color slow shutter"on my Sony DV camera. Magnitudes overhead were about +4.5 and +3.5 I would guess. Both were faint in my night vision scope and 7 x 35mm binocs when they crossed the bowl of the little dipper. They still showed up on video however.
