No reports, even negative, of sightings of the decaying Meteor 1-2 satellite on its potential pass over Europe. I watched during a very-low-elevation pass in a clear sky as seen from Edinburgh, but saw nothing. From my Decay Watch page... _____________________________________________________________________ Object: #4119 = 69- 84 A = Meteor 1-2 Final analyses: Source Prediction made Predicted decay at Latitude Longitude UTC UTC deg deg SpaceCom Aug 20 22:49 Aug 20 21:17 +-7m 33.0 S 4.0 W SatEvo Aug 21 15:00 Aug 20 21:31 +-15m 19.2 N 1.4 E Final elset: Meteor 1-2 5.0 1.5 0.0 5.8 v 12 146 x 129 km 1 04119U 69084A 02232.77240833 .20501331 -99330-6 20044-3 0 5710 2 04119 81.1065 290.3020 0012827 271.7290 88.3156 16.50633865721297 Note: I estimate that this decayed on a northbound pass over Mali, northern Africa at the end of the SatEvo-predicted rev: Meteor 1-2 5.0 1.5 0.0 5.8 v 12 131 x 119 km 1 04119U 69084A 02232.83292433 .54850665 45411+1 28866-3 0 95717 2 04119 81.1050 290.2152 0009352 271.4820 88.4109 16.55415083721307 If it had stayed in orbit a little longer there could have been a pass a cross Europe from near Marseille, France, at 21:37 UTC to Bremen, Germany, at 21:39 and just E of Oslo, Norway, at 21:41. So far, I have no reports of sightings. _____________________________________________________________________ Alan -- Alan Pickup / COSPAR 2707: 55.8968N 3.1989W +208m (WGS84 datum) Edinburgh / SatEvo & elsets: http://www.wingar.demon.co.uk/satevo/ Scotland / Decay Watch: http://www.wingar.demon.co.uk/satevo/dkwatch/ * ----------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe from SeeSat-L by sending a message with 'unsubscribe' in the SUBJECT to SeeSat-L-request@lists.satellite.eu.org http://www.satellite.eu.org/seesat/seesatindex.html
