Jari's flashing object of 2002 Aug 14 UTC:

    http://satobs.org/seesat/Aug-2002/0153.html

may be this approximately half metre wide piece of debris:

    1 23906U 83063E 02226.50542161 .00006625 00000-0 12145-2 0 3545

At about 05:49:20 UTC, it was in the same field of view as Cosmos 1697 r
(#16182 / 85097B), trailing it by about 3 deg, and about 2 deg higher.

The agreement with the observation is not perfect. The direction of
travel was a bit east of north, not NNW.

This object is not a known flasher, so it would be worthwhile to make a
    confirming observation.
