    Of course a passing, or leaving, interplanetary spacecraft is a special
    challenge, but there are many non-operational geosynchronous satellites and
    Molniyas that are easy to see at up to 40000 km range, when flashing.
    
    Plus operational geostationaries near the shadow cone around equinoxes, Centaur
    rockets in eccentric orbits ...
