> Does Heavens-above take atmospheric extinction into account? Hi all, No, at Heavens-Above we take the rather simplistic view that when the Sun is above the horizon from the satellite it is fully sunlit, and when it is below the satellite's horizon it is invisible. We also (for the time being) ignore atmospheric refraction, at least as far as satellites are concerned, but not when calculating Sun/Moon rise and set.
