Last night Iridium 82 "?" (25467, 98-051A) flared pretty much
as predicted by Iridflar; maybe a bit fainter. Five minutes
later I was able to show a really nice predicted -6 flare from
    Iridium 17 (24870, 97-034B) to a couple of passers-by. It was
only 9 degrees above the horizon and got me to wondering, as I
have before, about atmospheric extinction. I sometimes wonder
how variable the transparency of the sky (when it's "clear")
is near the horizon and how faithful the models are to it.
