    Dear List,
Last night at 2001 Aug 21/20:29.9 EDT = Aug 22/00:29.9 UTC,
we watched the Progress Rocket (26891=01-036B) pass through Scorpio,
varying from +2 to +3 magnitude with an apparent period of about
2 seconds. (This was not an especially good pass since the sky
was not very dark and we were forced to watch it through some
    tree branches.)
Just after the rocket, we saw an unidentified object of
    approximate magnitude 2-1/2 to 3 (e.g. like tau Sco's 2.82),
not obviously varying, moving in a similar track to 26891 but
slightly (a degree or so?) lower in elevation and perhaps a
little bit slower. Attempts to ID this using satbase.tle and
    alldat.tle were futile.
    Any suggestions?
We later (Aug 22/00:46.3 UTC) watched the Progress (26890=01-036A)
itself pass through the heart of the scorpion steady at about the
    3rd magnitude.
    Clear and dark skies!
