Bjoern Gimle reported seeing 83-44A, Cosmos 1461, very bright at 960807 21:20 UT. This satellite has been widely observed, being on the UK Priority List (though currently very low on the list, at priority 13). It is usually faint, but on one occasion in Malvern, England, I thought it was an aircraft with landing lights, mag 0 steady for at least a minute. David Brierley, Colorado Springs.
